#0 – Balancing process
Hello!
Now that the set is complete, all that is left to do is play the shit out of it right? Well, no, it’s time for the balancing phase. Many things went wrong, and it’s totally fine. Some cards are overwhelming while others are useless in every situations. The balancing phase will help on the diversity of possible decks, some decks are plain weak because of some cards that are way too strong against them. Some cards are also a bit too tricky or heavy on text so that some players have a hard time understanding them. They might ignore the card which could have probably been their winning key.
We’re not only balancing individual cards, but each colors so none are way stronger than the others. We also verify dual-colors decks. The core set doesn’t support triple-colors or more so those are ignored durng this phase. Also, the set has a few multiplayer cards in it, cards that benefit your ally or multiple players. Because yes, we want to encourage a 2 versus 2 game mode with cards that might be weak in 1v1 but shine in 2v2 / 1v1v1 / 1v1v1v1 games.
So during the next few weeks, I’ll be posting some new articles about each cards that with be adjusted with reasons and so on. I’ll also cover some other things about the set in general. Hopefully that will be interesting for you as it will be for me to learn more and more about how to design (magic) cards.
So until next time, have a great day :)!
